What should you consider when choosing a destination?

When choosing a destination with your friends,  it's important to consider what you want to experience together, like hiking, kitesurfing, or a safari. Also think about the number of travel days, as long distances can impact feasibility. We're happy to help you make the best choice!

Driving yourself or hiring a driver?

We're fans of self-driving in a 4x4 as it provides freedom and adventure. However, navigation can also be stressful. If that's a concern, a local driver is an excellent option. They can share insights about the culture and best spots along the route so you can fully enjoy your trip.

What about malaria?

Malaria exists in many parts of Africa, but with some precautions you can still travel safely. Think protective clothing at dawn/dusk and using DEET. Get advice from your healthcare provider before departure. We also select accommodations with mosquito nets.
De malariamug is vooral actief rond zonsopkomst en zonsondergang, dus het dragen van kleding die je armen en benen bedekt in de avond is verstandig. Daarnaast kiezen wij accommodaties waar altijd klamboe-netten aanwezig zijn, zodat je goed beschermd bent tijdens je verblijf.

Er zijn ook gebieden zonder malaria, zoals een groot deel van Zuid-Afrika, delen van Namibië en de hooggelegen gebieden in Oost-Afrika, zoals Nairobi. Malariavrij reizen is dus zeker ook een optie.

Laat je in elk geval voordat je op reis gaat, goed adviseren door de GGD over het gebruik van malariapillen, of maak zelf de keuze om je te beschermen met DEET en bedekkende kleding.

Is it safe to travel in Africa?

All our Africa destinations are safe for you and your partner. Just avoid wandering after dark and educate yourself on any high-risk areas. Also be mindful of different driving behaviors in Africa - drive cautiously. If you do get a flat tire, most Africans are very helpful!
