Congratulations, you want to travel to Africa, and according to us, you’ve chosen the most beautiful continent on earth. The next step is actually booking your trip, but when you search for ‘Travel Agency Africa,’ you can’t see the jungle for the palm trees. We’ll tell you five things that – especially in combination – make Charlie’s Travels different from any other travel agency in Africa. Just to make your choices a little easier!
1. We’re ‘on the ground’ and know where we’re sending you
No dusty office in rainy Netherlands with cheesy photos on the walls of smiling people in safari hats on the savannah. We work from the African continent! Most of our team is based in Nairobi, the vibrant hub of Kenya. But we also have travel consultants and content creators in Uganda, and South Africa. Moreover, Charlie himself has personally developed all our trips, routes, and experiences, often together with innovative locals. He went off the beaten track: from unknown Masai territory to the beaches of the Indian Ocean. He visited fascinating places and chatted with interesting people.
The result is that we, as a travel agency, are fully in touch with our product. We’ve been everywhere, know the roads, the hotel owners, and the guides personally. Not only do we know exactly where to send you thanks to our first-hand Africa knowledge, but your personal travel consultant will also be close by during your trip. Our team is available 24/7 when you go off-the-beaten-track!
2. Away with the stereotypes: we show a different face of Africa
Everyone knows that Africa has safari parks filled with wild animals. That there’s drought, huts with thatched roofs, and children with bloated bellies. But: Africa is a continent with an area of 30,370,000 km², spread over 54 countries and 1.216 billion inhabitants. That African image formed from a mix of Giro555 and The Lion King doesn’t apply to all of Africa.
African countries have endlessly diverse faces. In landscape, art, culture, and people. This is something we, Charlie’s Angels, see and experience daily because we live here. We want our travellers to see this too, to experience, smell, and taste it. It’s no coincidence that we specialise in off-the-beaten-track travel. We avoid stereotypes and standard safari tourism – although spotting lions and elephants certainly shouldn’t be missed – and we let you experience the REAL Africa during your trip! This may sound a bit general, but we prefer to leave it to you to discover how this will unfold during your journey. ;)
3. We produce loads of amazing content: and so can you!
So, we’re on the ground in various African countries, developing our own routes, and trying to show the most diverse faces of the destinations. Put all that together, and it results in some seriously cool content. We write blogs on a wide range of topics and make mini-documentaries during our search for new routes, telling the stories we encounter along the way. That way, everyone can see what these countries have to offer.
