Instagram spot in Uganda #9: at the bottom of the Sipi Falls
When heading east in Uganda, don’t forget to visit the Sipi Falls. This mountainous natural area is known for its coffee plantations and roaring waterfalls. The highest of the Sipi Falls stands at around 100 meters and can be visited with a guided hike. At the bottom of the waterfall, you can climb the rocks or wade in the small pool where the water crashes down. The water is ice-cold, and the rocks are slippery, but hey, you have to go the extra mile for an epic Instagram photo!
Instagram spot in Uganda #8: In the canoe on Lake Bunyonyi
Lake Bunyonyi, a lake in southeastern Uganda with 29 unique islands, is often called the Switzerland of Africa. We, Charlie’s Angels, crown this area as one of the most beautiful in Uganda, making it an absolute must for your Instagram bucket list! Show everyone how adventurous you are by paddling across the lake in a hollowed-out tree trunk. And don’t forget to take in the stunning surroundings!
Instagram spot in Uganda #7: Colorful fruit markets
This photo is easy to take because Uganda is full of colorful and fragrant fruit markets. The endless stalls with all kinds of tropical fruits and vegetables provide the perfect opportunity to add more color to your Instagram feed. Tip: If you take a photo at a stall, buy some fruit or vegetables there as well. It's a nice gesture toward the seller, and besides, the creamy avocados and super-sweet pineapples are absolutely delicious! (Oh, and also healthy. #healthylifestyle)
Instagram spot in Uganda #6: On the Equator
This spot is very popular among photo-loving travelers, making it Uganda’s version of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. But how often do you get the chance to stand on the actual equator of our amazing planet, with one foot in the Northern Hemisphere and the other in the Southern Hemisphere?! In Uganda, you can—so don’t miss out! Unleash your inner creative photographer, skip the cliché peace signs, and who knows, you might just capture an epic shot!
Instagram spot in Uganda #5: Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Uganda, with all its photogenic parks, is an excellent country for a safari. Picture yourself with your head under a safari hat, peeking out from the roof of a sturdy jeep, binoculars in hand, with a lion in the background. You can already imagine what a great shot that would be. Unfortunately, the only member of the Big Five you can no longer spot in the wild in Uganda is the white rhino. These magnificent, endangered creatures now live under protection at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Together with a guide, you'll trek through the bush in search of them—so keep your camera ready!
Instagram spot in Uganda #4: Ssese Islands
White beaches, crystal-clear water, swaying palm trees, a tropical cocktail in your hand… Uh… in Uganda? Absolutely! The country lies on the shores of Lake Victoria, the largest lake in Africa. From Entebbe, take a boat to one of the Ssese Islands, which, with their tropical vibe, could easily be mistaken for the Caribbean. Head to Bugala or Banda Island, park yourself on the warm sand, and make everyone stuck in the Dutch rain insanely jealous! Tip: Take your photo during the golden hour when everything glows gold under the setting sun.
Instagram spot in Uganda #3: Lake Mburo
About five hours’ drive from Uganda’s capital, Kampala, you’ll find Lake Mburo National Park. What makes this safari park unique is that you can cycle through it, giving you a truly immersive experience. Without the roar of a 4x4 engine, the wildlife remains calm, allowing you to get surprisingly close. And let’s be honest—who wouldn’t want an Instagram photo with an adorable baby zebra?
Instagram spot in Uganda #2: Mihingo Lodge
While you’re at Lake Mburo for those zebra selfies, don’t forget to visit Mihingo Lodge. This lodge boasts the infinity pool of your dreams, overlooking the vast African savannah. So, make sure to pack your best swimsuit, because there’s no better spot in Uganda to level up your Instagram feed!
Instagram spot in Uganda #1: Kidepo Valley National Park
So, Uganda has plenty of beautiful safari parks, but which one is the most Instagrammable? My vote goes to Kidepo Valley National Park, all the way in the north near the South Sudan border (about a fourteen-hour drive from the capital, Kampala. But hey, anything for that perfect Instagram shot, right?). Not only can you easily spot almost every wild animal you can think of, but it’s also the most untouched and off-the-beaten-track destination. Vast plains with rugged mountain ranges, scattered palm trees, and cacti—where you’ll often feel like the only person in the middle of nowhere. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, and so will your Instagram photo be!
