Hooray! It’s time to start thinking about your next holiday destination! Will it be South Africa? Tanzania? Or perhaps the homeland of many of our Charlies: Kenya?! Whatever country you choose, it’s always good to have a rough idea of the expected costs for your trip. We’ve put together a quick overview for you.

As you’ll see below, it’s quite tricky to give an exact price. How much you’ll need to dig into your holiday budget depends entirely on your travel group, the time of year, and the experiences you’d like to include. To receive a personalised price estimate tailored to your wishes, simply get in touch with one of our Travel Consultants. They’ll be happy to offer travel advice and a price estimate—no strings attached.Accommodation: How comfortable do you want to sleep?
When it comes to accommodation, travelling through Africa isn’t all that different from travelling through France. You can keep costs low by camping (not counting glamping) or go all out with a stay in one of the continent’s many luxury resorts and lodges. Since you’ll be planning your trip with one of our Travel Consultants, it’s easy to tailor the trip to your budget and preferences. Many families travelling with us choose to mix up their accommodations: a budget-friendly lodge during a road trip, followed by a luxurious lodge on safari, and then a resort by the beach. Camping starts at around €10 per night, while a stay in a lodge or resort can easily exceed €300 per night. Travelling in the low season can bring the cost of lodges and resorts down significantly. The cost of our experiences varies greatly depending on what you prefer. However, a safari is, of course, an essential part of any trip to Africa. Almost all parks in East and Southern Africa charge an entrance fee, which contributes to the maintenance of infrastructure, the wages of guides and rangers who protect the park from poachers, and the training of new staff. In addition, the land you visit is often owned by an individual or foundation, meaning the purchase cost needs to be recovered. This also ensures that the area remains protected for wildlife (and safaris, of course). You can go on walking, boat, or cycling safaris, but most often, you’ll be in a specially equipped 4x4 vehicle, which also needs to be rented. The cost of vehicle hire and park entrance fees varies from country to country. In Kenya and Uganda, entrance fees average around €50. In Tanzania, the prices tend to be higher, while in South Africa, they are generally much lower.
