The coastline of the African continent is endless! What can you expect from these tropical shores? Endless paradise beaches, countless sun-bathing sessions, and a generous dose of cocktails. Okay, we admit it was tough to narrow it down, but we’ve selected the 6 chillest beaches in Africa just for you. Perfect for a little daydreaming at the office or in the library. Here we go!
So white it almost makes your eyes hurt: that's the beach at Diani, our favorite beach in Kenya. There are more palm trees than people and the clear sea is at least as blue as the sky. Get a nice massage, order a fresh coconut and after a good day of sun-bathing sit down at one of the chill beach bars in Diani Beach.
Zanzibar, Tanzania
Sun, sea, Zanzibar. When you think paradise, you think Zanzibar: a bruising blue ocean, pristine white beaches, tropical palm trees and cocktails galore. Not only are the beaches stunning, the underwater beauty is stunning too! Exactly which beach to choose on the island? Head to lively Nungwi for the most beautiful beach (party) or go for ultimate laidback: sleepy Paje.
Sodwana Bay, South Africa
Although Mozambique's beautiful beaches are also nearby, hippy Sodwana Bay is definitely worth a visit. Our own sales angel Anna lives there, in a hut near the beach, and we're quite jealous of that: Sodwana Bay is quiet, relaxing and super chill. Besides being a beautiful beach with very nice sunsets, the beautiful reef also makes it a paradise for divers and the place to spot whales.
Tofo, Mozambique
The most famous—and in our opinion, the best—beach in Mozambique! In Tofo, it’s all about good vibes only. Expansive golden beaches, a bright blue sea, and cheerful, colourful boats. What makes Tofo even more special? Its incredibly rich and diverse marine life, where you can spot whale sharks and manta rays. No wonder it’s one of the most popular diving destinations in the world!
Bulaga Island, Uganda
Surprise! Even though Uganda is landlocked, you’ll still find beaches—and beautiful ones at that. White sands, swaying palm trees, the occasional wandering donkey, and vibrant pink flowers—that’s what you can expect on Bulaga Island. But think twice before taking a dip. Lake Victoria is teeming with parasitic worms, so it’s up to you to decide if a refreshing swim is worth it!
Pangani, Tanzania
Alright, here’s another gem in Tanzania. Pangani is pure and untouched. The powdery white beach stretches endlessly, the azure ocean is crystal clear and perfectly warm. The stunning coral reefs just off the coast make Pangani a true snorkelling paradise. It’s the perfect destination to fully unwind for a few days after all the hikes and safaris.

Geraldine Kemper discovered beautiful Kenya with her boyfriend
"From vast hilly landscapes in Masaai land to the dry desert and hot springs at Magadi, staying with a Masaai family and sleeping in a tent among the wildlife, having breakfast with fresh pancakes in the morning sun and going to bed after a beer by the campfire, it was an unforgettable holiday within a holiday.
