Geraldine Kemper discovered beautiful Kenya with her boyfriend

“From vast hilly landscapes in Masaai land to the dry desert and hot springs at Magadi, staying with a Masaai family and sleeping in a tent among the wildlife, having breakfast with fresh pancakes in the morning sun and going to bed after a beer by the campfire, it was an unforgettable holiday within a holiday. ”

Susan & Wietze: exploring in Tanzania

With only two weeks of vacation and our sights set on a destination “somewhere in Africa,” we started looking for a travel company that could help us with that. We wanted to travel sustainably, to travel a lot with locals and preferably to places with few other tourists. Then we came in contact with Charlie’s Travels….

Margot in Kenya

Hi, I’m Margot and in December 2019 I went on a trip to Kenya, my very first Africa experience. Over the past few years, I have been to several continents and travelled a lot around the world. Nevertheless, I was still excited to travel to a new continent again, especially since I would be travelling alone for the first week. So many people also asked me, “Isn’t that dangerous there, travelling alone in Africa?”

Kenya: forty years later

Despite the many countries we have visited before, we had our doubts about the security situation in Kenya. We are a couple of 65/66 yrs. Just retired. Not ready yet to make ‘dull standard trips’. But how to go about it? We had quite a few wishes.
Forty years ago, we lived in Kenya and enjoyed the country and its people. Now, after forty years, we are going back. A whole new experience. From stories told by friends and on the internet, we got the impression that the country had changed more than we thought, especially in terms of security. But… then we came into contact with Charlie’s Travels through the internet. Let’s give them a call!

Kenya: far away or still close by?

On November 11, 2020, I left for Kenya to work remotely for four weeks. Before I left, I interviewed my colleague Wencke, Commercial Director at Great Place To Work. I asked her why she allowed me to go, what her concerns were, and what she hoped it would result in. Now, back in the Netherlands, we’re speaking again.
