A night in Gaborone
In the far south of Botswana, on the border with South Africa, lies the country’s capital: Gaborone. Spend a night in this city for a good balance between city life and safari adventures. Gaborone is a great place to unwind after the past few days spent going completely back to basics in Botswana’s breathtaking wilderness. Finally, a proper bed—you’ll sleep well here!

Gaborone
Just fifteen kilometres from neighbouring South Africa lies Gaborone, the capital of Botswana. With around 231,000 residents, it is the country’s largest city. It’s a modern, vibrant city with a wide range of activities to enjoy. You’ll certainly appreciate this after all your adventures in the bush.

What can you do in Gaborone?
The city offers plenty of shops and markets to wander around or pick up some charming souvenirs, but museum enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy in Gaborone. Visit the National Museum to learn more about Botswana’s history, including drawings by the San people. Or take a look at the Art Gallery, which is brimming with African art. Prefer something a bit more active after all those long game drives? Head to the Gaborone Dam, where you can swim, windsurf, sail, and fish. Treat yourself to something tasty afterwards at the Yacht Club—an open-air bar with great (also alcohol-free) cocktails. Cheers!

On Safari!
Can’t get enough of safari? Not too far from Gaborone lies Botswana’s smallest wildlife park: Gaborone Game Reserve. The park spans around 550 hectares and is popular due to its easy accessibility. Spot zebras, wildebeests, rhinos, and ostriches as you cruise along the well-maintained roads. Don’t forget to look up too—there are plenty of rare birds to spot!
