Moremi Game Reserve
In the north of Botswana, you'll find Moremi Game Reserve, a protected area and an oasis of pure nature. Back to basics, wildlife spotting, and feeling truly at one with the wilderness. This is a destination where flora and fauna continue to surprise you.

About Moremi Game Reserve
Moremi Game Reserve, a modest slice of nature spanning around 5,000 square kilometres, boasts an enchanting landscape where the arid terrain meets the waters of the Okavango Delta. Chief Moremi of the Batawana Tribe gave the reserve its name and aimed to preserve it as a natural sanctuary, ensuring that the Basarwa and Bushmen tribes could continue to call it home.
This park, praised as one of the most popular safari areas in Botswana, reveals a surprising mix of mopane forests, enchanting lagoons, and picturesque papyrus-lined rivers. Elephants roam freely here and might even block your path, while a rich variety of birds dance above the water. Here in Moremi, more ecosystems blend seamlessly than anywhere else in Africa, making it a true paradise for nature lovers.
What wildlife will you spot?
In Moremi Game Reserve, you camp completely 'Charlie style', totally off the beaten track! The campsites in this area are unfenced and situated right in the middle of the bush. In other words, there's a very good chance that wildlife will casually wander through your campsite while you’re blissfully snoozing under the clear, starry sky. There's no need to worry, though—up in the rooftop tent on your 4×4, you’ll be perfectly safe!
Binoculars at the ready and camera charged? It’s time to spot some serious wildlife! Keep your binoculars poised and try to catch sight of buffalo, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, black rhinos, zebras, elephants, impalas, antelopes, and hippos!

Spot the African wild dog
Tabaqui already mentioned it in Mowgli: "Sometimes I dream I'm a tiger, but I always wake up as a hyena." And, in fact, Sher Khan's bootlicker really did himself a disservice in this film. You won’t find tigers in Africa, but isn’t spotting a hyena—or its lookalike, the African wild dog—just as cool? With a bit of luck, you might see both in Moremi Game Reserve!
"You should count yourself lucky if you can tick this species off your safari bingo card!"
Don't underestimate how unique it is to encounter these remarkable creatures. The African wild dog is one of the most endangered species and predators. Although they live in large groups, these magnificent animals aren't very big. Plus, they’re excellent at hiding and often spend the day lounging flat in the bushes. In short, you should count yourself lucky if you can tick this species off your safari bingo card. Spotting a lion is peanuts compared to this!
