What Does a Mokoro Trip Look Like?
Drifting along the calm water in a hollowed-out canoe, the mokoro, is an experience unlike any other. At first, you might feel a little unsteady, but within minutes, you’ll settle in and fully enjoy the peace and quiet around you. Gradually, the sun emerges from behind the clouds as you glide through tall reeds, serenaded by the gentle whistles of birds. Just ahead, the curious eyes of a hippo break the water’s surface, observing you as you float by. Discover the purity of the Okavango Delta and take on the mokoro adventure!

Mokoro: A Water-Based Safari
The mokoro, a handcrafted hollowed-out canoe, has been used for centuries as a means of water transport. Don’t worry – you won’t need to paddle yourself! Standing at the back of the canoe is your guide, expertly manoeuvring the boat with a long pole to steer and propel you forward. There’s no noisy motor, just the soothing sound of water rippling as you glide along.
As you journey, you’ll encounter plenty of wildlife: elephants cooling off by the river and crocodiles lurking further afield. If you’re a bird enthusiast, this is your paradise! Feel at one with nature as you drift across the crystal-clear water, listening to the calming sounds around you. A mokoro trip takes you to magical and unique places, offering unparalleled tranquillity. One thing’s for sure: the mokoro experience is the epitome of peace!
Camping in the Heart of the Delta
Imagine this… as the sun sets, its deep red glow reflects beautifully on the still water. Spending the night on an island, surrounded by the bush of this vast wetland, is a true off-the-beaten-track experience! Evenings are spent around a campfire, under a star-studded sky, accompanied by the sounds of wildlife in the near distance.
If you’re venturing into the Delta by mokoro, camping is a must. It’s the perfect way to round off this extraordinary adventure and make it truly unforgettable.
