Travel story: Babu and Bibi in Kenya

Five people, including two adults, one child, and an infant, pose outdoors in a grassy area by a scenic lake with distant mountains under Kenya’s clear blue sky—capturing the joy of travelling in Africa. Two adults wear sunglasses and casual clothes.

Since the birth of our grandchildren, I find myself moved more often and more easily. People and events affect me more and more, making my vision blur and my voice falter. When Jasper and Lieve invited us to join them on a trip to Kenya, it was no different. Bibi and Babu are going to Africa!

Travel Story – Reinier & Quirine

A smiling man and woman stand beside a dark green SUV with their arms raised in excitement, enjoying travelling through Tanzania. They are dressed casually on a road trip, with lush green foliage and a partly cloudy African sky in the background.

In September 2019, we embarked on a remarkable 2.5-week journey through Tanzania. The preparations with Charlie’s Travels went smoothly—we were looking for an adventurous and varied trip that combined both relaxation and action, with plenty of safaris. Additionally, we didn’t want to organise too much ourselves. In short, it was a trip fully tailored to our wishes and needs.

Family Eijsvoogel: Adventure in Uganda

Three smiling women wearing sunglasses pose together outdoors with mountains and a lake in the background, enjoying their travelling adventure in Uganda, Africa. One wears a black hat and striped shirt, the second a black top, and the third a white bat-design t-shirt.

This is my third trip with Charlie’s Travels. After a lustrum trip and a motor safari, this time it’s a family vacation. As a Kenya resident, I know East Africa well, but Charlie has always managed to surprise me with unique places. Now I’m curious to see if he can do it again in Uganda, this time with my family!

On honeymoon to Kenya: unforgettable

A man in a purple shirt feeds a giraffe from a wooden platform in Kenya, with trees and a fire extinguisher visible in the background—a perfect moment while travelling through Africa.

Our honeymoon had to be adventurous, breathtaking, and unforgettable. Earlier this year, Nadine was recommended to check out Charlie’s Travels by a colleague. After our first Skype meeting with Charlie & Hendrik, we were immediately sold on the idea of going to Kenya. To this day, we have no regrets. Want to know why this trip was AMAZING in one word? Kenya: forty years later

Despite the many countries we have visited before, we had our doubts about the security situation in Kenya. We are a couple of 65/66 yrs. Just retired. Not ready yet to make ‘dull standard trips’. But how to go about it? We had quite a few wishes.

Forty years ago, we lived in Kenya and enjoyed the country and its people. Now, after forty years, we are going back. A whole new experience. From stories told by friends and on the internet, we got the impression that the country had changed more than we thought, especially in terms of security. But… then we came into contact with Charlie’s Travels through the internet. Let’s give them a call!

Kenya: far away or still close by?

Groep wandelaars bereikt een bergtop met panoramisch uitzicht in Mount Elgon

On November 11, 2020, I left for Kenya to work remotely for four weeks. Before I left, I interviewed my colleague Wencke, Commercial Director at Great Place To Work. I asked her why she allowed me to go, what her concerns were, and what she hoped it would result in. Now, back in the Netherlands, we’re speaking again.

Mili works remotely in Kenya

A woman sits on a tree trunk by the beach in Kenya, using a laptop. Wearing a sleeveless dress, she appears focused on her work. The ocean and sky are visible in the background, framed by tree branches—a perfect scene for travelling in Africa.

The fact that you have to work during the day makes you use your free time more effectively and enjoy every moment. Don’t overthink it, just book your trip. You won’t regret it!

Last-minute remote working in Kenya

Four people work on laptops at wooden tables under a thatched roof, surrounded by lush African greenery. As they enjoy food bowls and drinks, their setup perfectly blends remote work with the spirit of travelling in Kenya.

Sjoerd (Project Lead at SKYNRG) tries to make a nice long trip of 3 to 4 weeks every year, but due to COVID-19, this initially seemed impossible. This remote working trip with CT was the perfect opportunity to make it happen anyway. Curious about how he experienced the trip?
