Murchison Falls National Park

What makes Murchison Falls unique is the spectacular boat safari along the Nile! Drift along the mighty, hippo-filled river, through lush jungle vegetation, and past a never-ending variety of wildlife on the shores.

What is Murchison Falls?

Murchison Falls is Uganda’s oldest and largest national park. It’s characterised by lush vegetation, but most notably by the Nile River, which forces its way through a seven-metre-wide rock gorge within the park, crashing down with immense power. This wild waterfall is the iconic feature of Murchison Falls and a sight in itself! You can take a boat close to the roaring cascade, or embark on a sweaty hike to the top, where you can stand beside the surging river—just be careful not to fall in!

In a 4x4, you can tick off nearly the entire Big Five, along with a wide array of other wildlife. But what makes Murchison Falls truly unique is undoubtedly the spectacular boat safari along the Nile! Drift along the mighty, hippo-filled river, through lush jungle vegetation, and past a rich diversity of wildlife on the shores: elephants bathing, enormous crocs sunbathing, buffaloes and zebras quenching their thirst… it’s an experience you’ll never forget!

Where to Stay in Murchison Falls?

In Murchison Falls, you’ll find comfortable tented camps. There are restaurants, campfire spots, cold beers, and plenty of camaraderie. Just be careful if you’re planning to visit the loo in the night! A hippo may be grazing right in front of your safari tent… Luckily, each nightstand comes with a guide for your nocturnal bathroom adventures.
