Hiking Waterberg
Leave behind the typical Namibian landscapes and head to the lush, forested mountains of Waterberg—an oasis filled with hikes and breathtaking views. High above the plains, you’ll discover a completely different side of Namibia, where nature, tranquillity, and adventure come together.

About Waterberg
The Waterberg Plateau National Park is named after its natural springs and is a fascinating place with sandstone rocks, 200-year-old dinosaur footprints, and petrified sand dunes. Unlike much of Namibia, the park boasts abundant natural water sources that make the area fertile. This unique environment is home to a wild and vibrant array of plants and animals, thriving in peace and abundance. A completely different slice of Namibia!

Hiking at the Waterberg
You can explore the Waterberg with various groups and in different ways. Here's a quick overview of the options!
Solo Hike: Just You, Nature, and the Waterberg
There are several beautiful hiking trails around the Waterberg Plateau National Park that you can easily explore on your own. Enjoy some peaceful solitude in nature—bliss! Spend a lovely day in, yes, green Namibia.
Head Out with a Guide: Guided Full Day
Set your alarm early, enjoy a hearty breakfast, and grab a strong cup of coffee—you’re ready for adventure! With a knowledgeable guide who’ll share insights about the surroundings, wildlife, and plants you encounter along the way, you’ll tackle the Waterberg en route to the massive plateau that makes this mountain so unique. From here, the views over the endless Kalahari plains are nothing short of phenomenal.
The Sundowner hike
Just like the fully guided day hike, this walk also includes a guide to accompany you. The only difference is that this hike starts a bit later. After a solid trek and reaching the top, it’s time to toast with one of the most delightful drinks you’ll ever taste: the ‘Sundowner’. This drink is a true staple in Southern Africa. As the sun sets, the moon rises, and the first stars appear, you can enjoy a well-deserved ice-cold drink to perfectly end the day. This is ultimate relaxation after an active day.
