Activities in Busua and Keta

Discover the ultimate surf spots, local fishing traditions, outdoor sports, and the most beautiful hidden bays of the Ghanaian west coast.

Surfing, yoga, and jungle gymming in Busua

Busua is known as the surf mecca of West Africa. Together with our local partner, you grab a surfboard and dive into the warm Atlantic Ocean, where the waves are perfect for both beginners and advanced surfers. After an exciting session in the water, you can roll straight into a relaxing yoga session on the wooden deck overlooking the shimmering water.

Our travel consultant Emiel went for the creatively built jungle gym, made of natural tree trunks, and weights of old car parts. Here you train in the open air and among the palm trees, while the sea breeze provides cooling, after which you can immediately take a refreshing dip in the sea.

Kayaking, boating, and searching for turtles with Rex in Keta

Environmental activist Rex has dedicated almost his entire life to preserving the crucial ecosystems around the Keta Lagoon Complex. Go on an adventure with this local hero. Go kayaking through the mangrove forests, boating on the Volta River, or walking on the beach looking for turtles.

During kayaking, Rex tells enthusiastically about how the mangroves protect against coastal erosion and how countless rare bird species nest in this unique ecosystem. During the boat trip, Rex takes you to remote island villages where time seems to have stood still.

On the way, you see how the mighty Volta River flows into the Atlantic Ocean. If you travel in the right season, you can witness the special moment when tiny turtles take their first steps toward the surf.

Our travel consultant Emiel calls the silence on the water and the calling of the kingfishers the ultimate relaxation moment. It is an active and refreshing way to experience pristine nature up close.

The authentic fishing experience with the local community

Early in the morning, the beaches of Ghana awaken with the vibrant bustle of traditional fishing. Together with our local partner, you help the local fishermen pull in the gigantic, hand-knotted nets from the beach, accompanied by rhythmic singing that echoes over the surf.

Then you step into a colorfully painted wooden canoe to learn more about the ancient navigation techniques and fishing traditions. It is an active and heartwarming way to be in direct connection with the daily life of the village.

Remote beach pearls KO-SA Beach Resort and Lou Moon Resort

Do you want to completely disconnect from the outside world? On the coastline in Ghana, you will find small-scale, sustainable eco-lodges hidden among the palm trees. One of our absolute favorites are KO-SA Beach Resort and Lou Moon Resort, charming accommodations with beautiful bungalows, a beautiful green area, and a pristine private beach.

Here you enjoy fresh fish dishes in the open-air restaurant and fall asleep to the sound of the rustling ocean in the background. It is the ultimate place for a quiet and relaxing coastal stay a stone's throw from the local villages.
