Guided safari activities in Namibia
Besides being the ultimate self-drive safari destination, Etosha National Park in Namibia offers countless impressive and exciting safari activities, both within the park and in other private game reserves. How about tracking a leopard in the middle of the night or taking a guided bush walk on foot? A professional and seasoned local guide always spots more wildlife than a Dutch visitor whose only safari experience is at the Beekse Bergen. So, step away from the wheel, hop in, sit back, and keep those binoculars ready!

Night safari: searching for wildlife in the dead of night
Think the night is only for sleeping? Think again! How about a night safari? When the sun sets, the bush transforms into a mysterious world. Search for the kings and queens of the night—lions, leopards, and cheetahs in their natural habitat. An adrenaline rush is guaranteed when you witness these animals actively hunting for a tasty meal.
Disclaimer: For all the early birds and those who get seriously grumpy with a few hours less sleep... don't worry! The night starts early for wildlife—hence the name night safari. In reality, you'll head out in the evening on this ‘night safari’ to catch a glimpse of the evening rituals of nocturnal animals.
Walking safari: spot wildlife on foot
Seeing a giraffe or zebra from your safari vehicle is already an incredible experience, but standing literally eye to eye with these wild animals without the armour of your car for protection takes your safari to the next level. No rumbling engine this time—just you, your guide, and your own two feet exploring the park. Focus on the little things, tracks and birds, and get ready to come face to face with something much bigger!
Tracking safari: live stratego with the big five
Live Stratego with the Big Five… what? Head out with an experienced guide to track the wildlife of the Okonjima Nature Reserve. To make sure you win the hunt, you'll play a little dirty – but in a simple and effective way! Researchers at Okonjima have been collecting data on the wildlife for years. Some leopards, for example, wear radio collars that the guides can track.

Spot the pangolin during the tracking safari!
The pangolin, also known as the termite eater, might just be the hardest animal to spot in the entire African wildlife kingdom. Not only are they solitary creatures, but their scaly armour also blends seamlessly with the colours of the savannah. On top of that, they are primarily nocturnal. That’s why, under the cover of darkness and accompanied by a tracking researcher as mentioned earlier, you'll head out in search of these elusive creatures—moving in complete silence and keeping a discreet distance. Grab your torch and start the search!
Step back in time with rhino tracking
We all know the rhino as a massive creature that looks like it’s been teleported straight from prehistoric times. However, it was a close call—these giants could very well have been consigned to history. For years, rhino populations have plummeted due to poaching. But thanks to the incredible conservation efforts from various organisations (and local communities), the (black) rhino is making a comeback. Namibia is the stronghold of the black rhino, with around 30 percent of the world's population roaming there. During a rhino tracking walking safari, you might encounter these impressive beasts (from a safe distance). And, you guessed it—a portion of the funds for this activity supports local conservation projects. Save the Rhino!
Disclaimer: Is the night a bit too daunting, and does all that walking and tracking sound exhausting? Of course, we also offer the good old "early-morning guided game drives" and "late-afternoon guided game drives."
