Discover off the beaten track Samburu
Are you travelling in Kenya and had enough of the hordes of tourists dressed in khaki? Are you craving an epic experience, far off the beaten track? Then Samburu, in the north of Kenya, is a place you won’t want to miss.

Highlights of Samburu
1. Samburu Wildlife:
In Samburu, you'll find countless different wildlife species, including lions, leopards, elephants, and buffalo. The Ewaso Ng'iro River, which flows through the reserve, attracts many animals, especially during the dry season.
What makes the wildlife in this area truly special, however, are the so-called 'Samburu Special Five' – the Grevy's zebra, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx, giraffe gazelle, and reticulated giraffe. These animals are uniquely adapted to the dry conditions, and you can find them in very few other places.

2. The Samburu-tribe:
A visit to Samburu is not complete without getting to know the tribe of the same name. Listen intently to the Samburu people, who will share all about their unique traditions, customs, and way of life. They are known for their colourful traditional clothing (a bit different from your familiar Levi’s jeans) and their rich cultural heritage.
3. Breathtaking landscapes:
The landscape of Samburu is breathtakingly beautiful and highly diverse. From the dry savannahs and rocky hills to the lush riverbanks, every corner of Samburu offers a new and enchanting view. Put a spring in your step and enjoy a refreshing hike, or go on a safari to spot all those different animals in their unique habitats.
4. Mt. Ololokwe:
One of the highlights (literally) of Samburu is Mt. Ololokwe. This mountain rises out of the surrounding plains and offers a postcard-worthy view. You can also climb this mountain. Being out of breath and feeling the burn is guaranteed, as it's not an easy hike. However, this promises an immense sense of accomplishment once you reach the top. Be sure to look around as you go; as mentioned, the views are absolutely stunning!
5. Camping under the stars:
For a truly off-the-beaten-track experience, you can choose to camp in Samburu. Sleep under the clear African night sky, surrounded by the roar of a pride of lions or the cries of monkeys. Awesome! We’ll be happy to help make this camping safari unforgettable for you!
6. Nice activities:
Of course, you can enjoy a traditional safari in Samburu, but there’s so much more to do here! You can trek through the landscape on the back of a camel, go on walking tours to spot wildlife with an experienced local guide, and when it comes to birdwatching, this is the place to be.
Let yourself be carried away to the untouched beauty of Samburu and discover the magic of this hidden gem. Whether you're a seasoned traveller or a newcomer just discovering Africa, Samburu will offer you an experience you won’t find anywhere else!
