15 days in Kenya & Tanzania

Arrival
All set for your adventure? Get to the airport on time, pick a fun movie for your flight, and get ready for a warm welcome in Nairobi. This bustling city is the starting point of your Kenya adventure and is eager to greet you. Stroll through the backstreets of the capital, hop on a bodaboda for an express city discovery, unwind after your long flight at one of the trendy restaurants, or swing by a shopping mall to grab that sunscreen you forgot. Karibu Kenya!

Nairobi
Nairobi has many faces: from tree-lined avenues with grand villas to the slums, vibrant chaos, noise, and a touch of history. You just need to know where to look, but Nairobi is booming! Trendy eateries, cosy bars, parties every night, shopping malls, and more. It’s a great city to acclimatise before your journey truly begins. Or dive straight into adventure—shop for souvenirs at the Maasai Market, try the local delicacy nyama choma (barbecued goat), or cruise through the city the Kenyan way in a matatu (minibus) or on a boda boda (motorbike).

Amboseli
Amboseli, in southern Kenya, is part of the vast savannahs and deserts that define much of the region. Expect dry landscapes and dust—unless you visit during the rainy season, of course. It’s not just the scenery that sets this area apart; the people do too—welcome to Masai land! Here, you’ll find fewer towns and more Masai villages. Dressed in their vibrant traditional attire, the Masai roam with their livestock or zip past on motorbikes. Alongside stunning lodges and cosy safari tented camps, you can also opt for a local homestay in a Masai Manyatta for a truly immersive experience.

Chyulu Hills
The Chyulu Hills—visible from the road—are a breathtaking sight, and if you look closely, you might even spot your campsite for the night: Satellite Camp. According to the Kenya Wildlife Service, this park is Kenya’s hidden gem (and we couldn’t agree more). This volcanic mountain range rises to 2,188 metres and sits between Amboseli and Tsavo. As you explore, you'll pass rolling grassy hills, volcanic craters, and striking black lava flows. This place is famous for its stunning sunrises and sunsets—so make sure you're at the top in time to witness the magic.

Taita Hills
You're about to explore the hidden gem of the Taita Hills—off the beaten track, free from tourists, and home to incredibly friendly locals. Welcome to the Taita Hills, the land of the Taita-Taveta tribe! These ancient hills were formed over 100 million years ago and were once covered by vast rainforests. Over time, the surrounding landscape transformed into dry savannah, leaving behind isolated pockets of tropical rainforest. As a result, this region boasts an incredible variety of flora and fauna—perfect for spotting unique wildlife and lush plant life!

Arusha
This somewhat chaotic town in northern Tanzania is mainly used as a transit hub, as the Northern Safari Circuit is just around the corner. The city is lively and offers plenty to do. With many travellers passing through and a significant expat community, you'll find a great selection of restaurants. Prefer a more local experience? Arusha has you covered for that too!

Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park is famous for its massive elephant population and majestic baobab trees that dominate the landscape. The park also boasts several stunning viewpoints offering breathtaking panoramas. In addition to the elephants, you may spot giraffes, lions, leopards, zebras, and various species of impala. To top it off, you'll enjoy a bush lunch right in the heart of the park.

Mto wa Mbu
Mto wa Mbu is a lush, green village nestled between the vast Masai plains, where the local community primarily thrives on banana plantations and fishing from Lake Manyara. Here, you can fully immerse yourself in the daily life of the locals. For those seeking adventure, nature is right at your doorstep. Plus, from this village, you can easily visit Lake Manyara National Park. Plenty to explore!

Baraka Village
Tonight, you will be fully immersed in Masai culture, experiencing the daily life of this nomadic people up close. This is not a staged performance—just genuine participation in their way of life. The Masai will share stories about their daily routines, but they will also be curious about yours. You'll enjoy a cosy tea session together, made with freshly milked cow's milk.
As night falls, the women will begin preparing the meal, while the men will slaughter a goat. If you'd rather not witness this, you can join the women in the kitchen and help chop vegetables.

Lake Manyara
It's time to experience Tanzania’s wildlife—but this time, after dark. As the sun sets and darkness falls, you'll step into an open Jeep with no windows or doors and head into Lake Manyara National Park. In the cover of night, you'll try to spot as many nocturnal animals as possible.
With a small group of no more than nine people, the aim is to disturb the wildlife as little as possible while witnessing their nightly adventures. This is a unique and unforgettable way to encounter Tanzania’s wildlife like never before.

Ngorongoro Crater
Upon entering the park, you'll drive along a scenic road through a lush forest before arriving at a breathtaking viewpoint overlooking the crater. Then, it’s time for the descent! A steep 600-metre drop takes you down to the crater floor, bringing you face-to-face with one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders.
Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this is considered one of the most stunning and unique locations in Africa. The crater is a true wildlife haven, home to an incredible variety of animals. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the endangered black rhino!

Arusha
Today is all about relaxation. After an incredible journey, it’s time to unwind before heading home tomorrow. Take a refreshing dip in the pool, sleep in, read a book, and simply enjoy a moment of peace.
