A place with a lot of water

This area is characterised by high mountains, cliffs, and dense forests that seem to roll right into the Indian Ocean. The name comes from the Khoi and means ‘place with much water’. The Storms River winds its way through the forest of Tsitsikamma and plunges into the sea at the impressive Storm River Bridge. This park is a magical place in beautiful South Africa.

Hiking and even more adventure

It’s also the perfect moment in the journey to pull out that amazing Akela outfit and sturdy hiking boots from your bag. In this park, you’ll find many bird species and the rare clawless otters, so grab your binoculars and try to spot these extraordinary animals!

Hike the 42-kilometre Otter Trail, staying in huts or pitching your own tent along the way. Alternatively, take the Dolphins Trail and enjoy luxury and splendour around the park. Within the park itself, you can do several shorter hikes. One moment you’ll be walking through dense forest, but a second later you’ll be gazing out over the bright blue sea. Keep an eye out! You might spot a huge whale tail.

Not much of a landlubber and looking for more adventure? Grab a kayak or motorboat and head into Storms River Mouth. From the riverbank, you can follow the river and reach a thundering waterfall. Want even more adventure? Try bungee jumping, if you happen to be nearby. It’s not just any bungee jump; it’s the highest in the world...
