My favourite way to explore Nairobi? On a motorbike! Hop on the back of a boda boda with the Savvy Riders, a crew of expert bikers who know the city like the back of their hand. These roaring motorbikes, with their fully geared-up riders, can be found on every street corner. Originally bicycle taxis, boda bodas are now mostly motorbikes in larger cities, offering a thrilling and efficient way to weave through traffic.

Speeding through Nairobi’s streets, you’ll witness the city’s extreme contrasts, from Africa’s largest slum to the affluent expat neighbourhood of Karen. You’ll visit places you’d never otherwise see, all while capturing it on camera from the back of a bike. The adventure wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Harry’s Tavern for the best goat in town, before ending the ride in Nairobi’s chaotic CBD.

Today, your adventure begins! You’ll set off from Nairobi and kick things off with a real-life Mario Kart experience, navigating the highway towards Thika. But the real magic starts when you take a left onto the C70, a true motorbike paradise. Here, you’ll ride along winding roads, soaking in breathtaking views at every turn. Ready? Start… GO!

Another beautiful route awaits you today! You’ll ride along the dusty C76 road, passing by Ol Pejeta. Just don’t get too distracted by the stunning views on your left! In Nyahururu, take a well-deserved lunch break at the Solana Forthall Lounge Kabati, a perfect spot to recharge before continuing towards Nakuru. Let’s go!

Today, you’ll explore the hidden gem of Soysambu. This lesser-known park spans 48,000 hectares in Kenya’s central Rift Valley, about 25 km southeast of Nakuru. It borders Lake Nakuru National Park to the west, the Ol Doinyo Eburru volcanoes to the south, and Menengai to the north, offering breathtaking landscapes with ever-changing scenery.

Today kicks off with a proper bone-rattling road, think Swiss cheese full of potholes. Time to channel your inner Mario Kart skills as you weave your way through! After about 30 kilometres, you’ll hit a smoother stretch of tarmac and glide through the rolling hills and stunning Kenyan countryside. Make a quick stop in Narok at Nairobi Koffee House for a break, then it’s time to hit the savannah. A long, open road stretches ahead, just waiting to be conquered! Feel free to pull over if you spot wildlife along the way. But be mindful not to ride into a conservancy by mistake! No worries, though, there’ll be plenty more wildlife sightings once you reach the Mara!

Today, you're off to Morijo in the Loita Hills. Along the way, you'll get a glimpse into the daily life of the Maasai communities, passing through their villages and crossing paths with locals. Take a moment to connect, then ride on. That’s the beauty of cruising through this region. Make occasional stops for a refreshing soda or simply to soak in the breathtaking views. This promises to be an exciting ride, with constantly changing landscapes, stunning passes, and a fascinating peek into the diverse Maasai cultures you’ll encounter en route. Eventually, you’ll descend into the Loita Valley, the heartland of the Maasai. The journey takes about six hours, but of course, you’re free to pause whenever you fancy a break!

Once on the road, you’ll already spot Mt. Suswa in the distance, so no chance of getting lost here! In Suswa Town, you’ll drop off your big luggage at Mara Gateway Hotel, where it will be waiting for you after this unforgettable experience. Then, it's time to rev up and ride up Mt. Suswa alongside your fellow motor adventurers. Take in the breathtaking views over the crater as you ascend.

Today, you’ll have the chance to meet the Masai, a traditionally nomadic people. This cultural encounter will be truly special. You’ll learn a lot from and about them, but they’ll also be curious to learn about you. The Masai will be preparing your meals over the next few days. It won’t be fine dining, but expect simple, local dishes made with care and hospitality.

As the morning light breaks, you wake up on Mount Suswa. While the Masai herd their sheep, cows, and goats onto the vast plains, you enjoy a simple breakfast, taking in the peaceful start of the day. Then, it’s time to hop on the motorbike once more and make your way back down to Suswa. Back in town, you’ll reunite with your belongings at Mara Gateway and have a chance to freshen up before hitting the road again. Next stop: the city, back to Nairobi!
