Kayaking in Magadi

Imagine this: four days in nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and a brief escape from all the tourists. This is truly off the beaten track! Paddling with a kayak from campsite to campsite, guided by someone who can safely lead the way, and camping amidst wildlife. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

Nature and Adventure: Four Days of Kayaking in Kenya

The kayak journey lasts for four days and is suitable for the true adventurers among us. From day one, you’ll witness the most beautiful nature passing by, starting with the motor ride to the first campsite. Left and right, you’ll zoom through dense, green forests. In the next two days, we guarantee occasional adrenaline rushes! One moment, you’ll be enjoying the tranquil water with a curious monkey poking its head through the branches, and the next moment, you’ll be navigating the fast-flowing river with your paddles. In the evenings, you’ll sleep in a tent along the river, but not before the chef prepares a delicious meal. Feet up and a cold beer in hand? You have to agree, it doesn’t get any better than this.

Perhaps even better? Culture and Safari in the mix!

During this adventure, you’ll explore the enchanting Shompole Conservancy. Here, you’ll embark on a safari focusing on a unique experience, even if wild animals are scarce. End the day with a sundowner on the jeep, enjoying a drink and the stunning surroundings. For a cultural experience, you’ll visit a Manyatta, where you’ll get a glimpse into the local culture. Pretty cool, right?

Kayaking in Magadi: More than just water

In addition to the river safari, you’ll also explore the area on foot. On day two, the tour guide will take you on a game drive in an open jeep through the Shompole Conservancy. Just before sunset, you’ll all hop on the vehicle and feel the last rays of the day on your face during a beautiful sunset, overlooking the Loita Hills. Of course, with a drink and a snack to complete the experience.

Haven’t seen enough wildlife yet? Rise and shine! On day three, you’ll wake up early for a bushwalk and baboon tracking. The Lale’enok Baboon Project is full of baboons and is dedicated to ecotourism and research on this species of apes. Note: don’t be surprised if the ranger hands you a cap beforehand. To observe the baboons up close, the rangers have trained them to trust people wearing a cap. With this ‘passport’ on your head, you’ll have access to the baboon community and the opportunity to observe them very closely.
